History: Through the Years

Pixar was created in 1984 by founder John Lasseter, after leaving his animation position at Disney.  Pixar was founded as an independent company from the computer graphics division of Lucasfilm, Ltd.  Red's Dream was the first film created by Pixar and was showcased at the Siggraph convention, a computer graphics organization.  In 1989, Pixar uses it's program Renderman® for the first time.  After five years of creating commercials, Pixar releases the award winning Toy Story in 1995.  Three years later, Pixar releases their second film A Bug's Life which was followed by Toy Story 2  shortly after.  Pixar has created a total of five films, with the latest release being Finding Nemo.

Plans:
Pixar Animation Studios future plans include the upcoming release of The Incredibles.  The release date is planned for November 5, 2004.  Pixar also has plans to release another movie called Cars.  The release of Cars won't be until 2005.
